Also In 2016, I graduated from Kutztown University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Piano Performance. I am a trained Music Therapist, graduated with a Bachelors of Music in Music Therapy, major instrument Piano with secondary instrument Voice. I enjoy working with young children and also those with special needs especially infants to provide sensory stimulation through music therapy. I use Music in therapy to facilitate language, social, movemen/motor and pre-academic skills. I will give assignments and create goals but also want the student to be self motivated. I will not be overly strict when it comes to practice. I use a variety of methods for my teaching style. I usually have a few method books that I bring to a first lesson, and after meeting the student I will decide on the best one. Once the student has progressed and shows some motivation to be slightly challenged, I'll introduce "popular" music so that the student feels a sense of accomplishment! First and foremost, learning any musical instrument should be a fun experience. With this in mind, each person's lesson is subjective and progresses according to the student's learning style; a beginning 5 yr old student's lesson will look much different that a beginning 14 yr old student's lesson.
