Teaching for me really became serious in 2018. I started with teaching in my own home and did go to the houses of my students as well for a short time. I do my best to give my students a good practice regimen that they can use to practice everyday, while also providing them tips to practice the pieces that they are trying to put together on their own. When it comes to teaching beginner piano, my philosophy is to avoid making lessons and assignments feel like a monotonous chore. If a student feels overwhelmed and/or uninterested in completing assignments and attending lessons, it can have the same affect as being assigned too much school work and house chores; the student will most likely lose interest in learning. My aspirations as a violin instructor are to enable students to identify, understand, and assess challenges they contend to search for possible solutions. I am a proponent of self-directed learning, and intentionally create situations in class that allow the students to learn through the unconventional approach. I also encourage students to come up with their own exercises and possible solutions for any challenge they encounter.
