Since moving to NYC, I have also started teaching at the New City School of Music in New City, NY. I find that teaching has been one of the most rewarding experiences I have had while in music, and I often feel that I have learned as much from teaching as from my own study. I firmly believe that it is as important that students learn basic musicianship skills such as sight-singing and music theory as learning their instrument of choice, and I try to incorporate these elements, among others, in voice lessons. When teaching guitar I often use the Hal Leonard Method for younger students. I am a big fan of the Berklee Modern Method books for those who learn a little faster. For piano I also have found several methods I like and often use the Hannon Piano exercise book as supplement. I began teaching piano to local children in the neighborhood as a teen-ager and have always found the experience to be interesting, rewarding challenging and enjoyable. I have experience teaching students of all ages (5 to 80), with a wide range of abilities and interests. I have prepared students who are interested to participate in recitals, festivals and to take exams such as those from the Toronto Conservatory of Music.
