In order to teach my students more effectively, I decided to study classically at that time and studied with Morton Estrin, (Billy Joel's Piano Teacher) and Ross Barentine, a celebrated conductor. Every new student comes to their first lesson with particular skills and musical interests. My job is to assess the students abilities and lead them down the appropriate paths to achieving their musical goals. My goal is to cultivate musicianship.  Students are encouraged to develop technical skills as a means of creative and emotional expression.  Sight reading and improvisation are taught simultaneously with music theory and composition. I began studying music at age 10.  By twelve years old I began serious study and practice on the piano.  By 15 I was playing weekly church services on both organ and piano.  I attended both Rutgers College and Berklee School of Music in Boston, where I continued my studies in piano, jazz composition and arranging, voice and performance. I studied under Ingrid Clarfield throughout my early years, then continued my training under Robert Shannon at Oberlin College Conservatory, where I completed a dual-degree program in Classical Piano Performance and Psychology. Piano For beginning piano students who are children, I usually start with my own lesson sheets I composed. I also entertain kids by having them color and draw notes and scales. After being familiar with fundamentals, depending on students progress, I recommend them to study with Hal Leonard's or Alfred's. From (Mid) highschoolers to adults, I will start off with Ferdinand Beyer first then Czerny with a couple other supplementary.  Voice For children, I keep them interested with children's song and have them play along singing.
