I'm an ardent instructor and music lover that believes in the saying that music is the soundtrack of our lives. Through my studies, lessons, and performances, I have learned to appreciate the rich diversity found in music. A joy that I love sharing with all of my students. In 2016, I enjoyed participating in an international competition that served to further my experiences as a musician. All in all, I believe the study of music should always be an enjoyable experience no matter what your musical aspirations may be. Read More

Methods are tailored around the individual needs and goals of the student. Fundamentals in music theory are balanced with repertoire and lessons focus on developing practice skills that the student can use outside the lesson. The Suzuki method is ideal for beginning flute students, particularly young students. This approach allows students to become comfortable holding the instrument, producing a solid tone, and training the ear, before introducing notation. For beginning pianists, the Bastien series works well in terms of breaking down repertoire into manageable pieces and marking students' progress in early study. Read More

My professional experience includes teaching Piano to dozens of students of all levels and ages, teaching skills that range from basic scales to classical sonatas to modern jazz, teaching students to read sheet music, playing by ear. Over the course of my career thus far, I have learned that compassion, communication, and encouragement are just as essential to imparting musical knowledge as technical skill. I also have experience teaching Music appreciation classes, Music Theory, and Ensemble. Read More

Instruments: Piano Violin
Why did you choose your primary instrument?
My mother and grandmother were concert pianists and Victor Borge a great uncle do music was always in my blood. I also chose the violin because I heard Isaac Stern with the Boston Symphony play the Brahms Violin Concerto when I was in sixth grade and I asked my parents why hearing it made me cry. I realized then there was beauty and feeling in music and it was something I knew I had to have and have been with ever since
What musical accomplishments are you most proud of?
The most important thing was right after my father died I had a chance to perform a solo at Carnegie Hall and it brought such happiness to my mother. Anther time was when I received an award from President Clinton for keeping children off drugs through music. I am also so proud of my students snd what they went on to accomplish
What do you think is the hardest thing to master on your instrument?
On violin it would be smoothness snd not to fear higher positions. On the piano not to be overwhelmed by the number of keys. Some young ones feel scared because they have such little fingers
Have any of your students won awards or been selected for special honors? How have they succeeded?
I have had students win scholarships to private school and colleges. Three students were chosen to perform at Disney World for a backtrack of music being recorded for a musical. Several have performed at the White House and several around the world. I am proud of them all actually.
Did you have a teacher that inspired you to go into music? How did they inspire you?
Yes. I had a teacher that was never mad even if I made a mistake and this was at the z conservatory level. Instead she would tell me to watch a particular finger or spend more time on a phrase but she was never angry.
When will I start to see results?
I ascertain that there is something positive at the first lesson. It might be as simple as how well the child sits at the piano or how nicely the child holds a bow. My lessons are all taught in a very positive way.
What advice do you have about practicing effectively?
It is not about the quantity of time you practice but the quality of time you do practice. A person that practiced two hours may not be practicing effectively while a person practicing only a half an hour might be practicing utilizing all corrections and style. Time does not mean quality.
How do I know if my child is ready to start lessons?
If he/she has an awareness of the particular instrument and requests to play. It is not what the parent wants but what the child wants. This is something I discuss with a parent before the first lesson
