In Charleston, SC, I was faculty at the Charleston Academy of Music for almost 6 years.My students range from age 3 to adults, and have won local and state competitions. In 2010 I formed a piano duo, and have since been invited as guest faculty in the Chicago Duo Piano Festival and Charleston Music Teachers' Association. I have performed in Asia, Europe and in the United States and have met many internationally acclaimed pianists and pedagogues, and I bring with me the experiences I have amassed over the years. Positive reinforcement is everything! While there will always be room for improvement and growth, it is crucial to acknowledge successes throughout each lesson. Learning a new instrument requires patience, practice, and determination, and reinforcers can be a huge motivator (I know they were for me when I was learning). Once the students has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance.
