In my teaching method the goal is to combine high level of technique with musicality and individual interpretation. The beginners’ lessons are systematized as a successful blend of fun musical games and new academic material, thus learning new is fun and inspiring. I break down the overall goal to a small step that is doable for the student. I am nice and patient with students, meanwhile, I insist on they accomplishing my instruction. It is fine if it takes several tries, but most importantly is that they had to try. Practicing is a way to learn from the mistake and how to avoid it. My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time and have been teaching since. Today I am a music teacher at David Posnack Jewish Day School and the drum instructor at Piper High School. Since becoming the drum instructor at Piper High School we have received superior ratings four years in a row. My experience goes back over ten years.  I have taught students privately and also from teaching services.  Presently, I am teaching piano at a school here in the Miami area.  In additionn to that, I have several private students that I teach at my home studio.  My students are encouraged to practice everyday.  If they are taking lessons because they are interested, it is easier to teach them.  If they are coming because their parents want to learn, they are not as inclined to enjoy their lessons. I first talk with my students to figure out their goals.  Once a reasonable goal has been agreed upon, I enthusiastically help them jump right into playing their instrument.  By breaking up portions of the lesson with review of simpler pieces, I encourage my students to play fun and simpler things as well, so that they do not beocme frustrated.  I always bring my positive attitude to each lesson, and have the students write down what to work on after each lesson. My music experience dates back to playing in the Jazz band in grade school, where I learned the foundational knowledge all music students should have. At Suffolk College, I played saxophone, which lead to starting a rb band with some of my fellow musicians on campus.
