Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Ever since I was a child I had wanted to be a teacher. When I got to Central Piedmont Community College I focused on music education because I knew I wanted to teach music theory in college. After transferring to Wingate University I began studying choral music education because I was fascinated byhow the voice works and blends with other voices in a choir situation.
