As a performer, I was one of the winners of the 2009 SJSU French Music Competition, and one of the finalists of the 2013 BGSU Art Song Competition. In 2012-13, I served as the accompanist of the BGSU Men's Chorus, in which I've had the opportunity to participate in the performnace tour twice through 6 states along the East Coast. "Consistent" and "productive" practice are the key points I emphasize for all the students. I personally believe that being able to "see the result" can help students gain confidence about their potential so students will be eager to challenge more in order to accomplish a higher level. Trombone - I utilize the books Abrams and Rochut-Melodious Etudes. I develop custom curriculum for each students level and learning style. At the first lesson, I evaluate what the student wants to get out of the lessons, what sparks their interests in music, and skill level. From there, I share exercises from the books, exercises I create for developing certain skills, and later on, creation or exercises by the student. Read More

I studied and performed piano at Colorado College, and as a graduate student at Mills College. The reason is that it is very important to form good playing skills right from the beginning.
