There are many preparatory series available for beginning students. I am not particular about which series I work with. Often there are students with previous instructors and I have no trouble picking up where the student left off. I can recommend books or a series as well as supplemental skills practice books. There I helped develop secondary minors on developing their piano skills or to tutor those needing help in class piano. In 2012 I was offered a full Scholarship and assistantship to Tulane University where I taught piano minors. Primarily worked on standard classical repertoire, sightreading, technique, and theory. I teach both the Classical and Suzuki methods. I have students of all ages so it varies which student is learning which method. The best for children is the Suzuki method that is widely used in the USA. Classical methods can be used when I teach young adults and adults. It is pretty flexible though and I sometimes teach younger children the classical method. I like challenges and I often have children and older students that express different tempers. Read More

My current research focuses on twenty-first century North American art songs by women composers, particularly art songs for the young singer age 16-20. I have presented on and performed this music at the 2019 and 2020 Music by Women Festivals, the 2019 and 2021 SERNATS Conference, the 2019 Georgia NATS Conference, and virtually at the NATS 2020 National Conference.
