I use All for Strings, Suzuki, Klengel (scales) at the beginning level. I proceed to Concerto repertoire, Popper, Dotzauer etc. The usual classical repertoire. I will also transcribe popular pieces or pieces that the student enjoys to really increase motivation. I also test weekly to inform students of where their practice ability is at and what they need to improve on. I have a very effecient practice style that I have developed on my own and am quite proud of. Teaching is my life and it makes me happy to see students improve. Read More

My methods change according to the ability, age, and personality of my students. I always use a variety of materials for both young students and adults to keep them interested. I enjoy spending the time needed to address proper practice habits, so that students are able to make the most of their time at the piano. I strongly believe that a traditional classical foundation is helpful for all pianists, but encourage both kids and adults to explore all the repertoire that they love. Read More

I've found that being flexible and adaptible is most important to me, as everyone learns in a different way. I place a lot of importance on following student interest and goals as well, since it doesn't matter how great your instruction is if you're bored and don't want to keep playing. I think every student should get as much out of their lesson experience as they want, whether that means a more casual experience where you're not practicing too much throughout the week, or holding my student more accountable if they express more ambitious goals. Perhaps we could make up a new song with the note names. Or for example an older adult who is having memory problems for learning a new piece, but is very good at associating the sound of music with a feeling or image. Perhaps we could take the music in smaller chunks with an image association for each new musical chunk. It makes me very happy to watch each individual begin to understand and harness their own personal strengths during the learning process. Read More

I start with the basics and for young students do nursery rhymes and songs they know, this makes it more enjoyable for them. I also ask them what music they would be interested in learning and see if I can find an easy version of this. Lately, the Encanto movie has been popular and Ive been teaching younger students these songs. Many of my teen students like to learn Beethoven and other classical composers. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
