As your teacher I make your music goals my top priority and guide you through our lessons based on what you hope to achieve. I have a wide range of experience and can draw upon many different teaching styles depending on the needs my students. Every student has challenges they face when learning an instrument and my goal is to help isolate those challenges and create a plan for conquering them. Read More

I have been a Musician most of my life, and I especially love finding new music and sharing it with everyone, friends family and strangers as well! I have been playing/studying music for 45 years, and found my instrument of choice (drums) at age 12. I attended Five Towns College as a Music Major for two years. My teaching experience began when I started giving lessons in my freshman year of college 10 years ago. I was part of the school of music's community teaching program, where I taught lessons to mostly children. Since that time I have taught in-home lessons and home studio lessons. When I teach, I try to help students discover their passion for the instrument. I structure lessons in a way that helps students enjoy what they do. Read More

Instruments: Flute

A flute teacher in Colorado Springs who delights in being a part of my students' musical journeys, I have over forty years' teaching and performing experience in the United States, Germany, and Norway. I have my Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance and performed as a part of U.S. Army Bands. Over the years I have taught in music stores, band rooms, community centers, and my home studio. Students have shown accelerated progress in tone, musicianship, and technique; consistently placed in All-County, -District, and -State Honor Bands and Orchestras; been awarded superior ratings in Solo and Ensemble Festivals; and enjoyed the weekly interaction with a trusted adult who listens and genuinely cares about each individual student. For young beginners, I use a lot of the Suzuki Method of teaching. Music games, pitch recognition and rhythms are all introduced as games during the lessons. My adults study from a combination of pieces, exercises, scales and duets. I think understanding the pieces you are playing is important so students learn how to recognize key signatures and time signatures. I have many students participate in school orchestra and youth orchestra programs so students are coached on how to prepare, how to audition and learn how to cope with nerves. Read More

I love teaching, and I firmly believe that almost anyone can be taught to do almost anything! I have music degrees from Hope College in Holland, Michigan, and USF in Tampa, Florida. After teaching at Hope for 6 years, I joined the Air Force to play with the world-class musicians that make up their bands. I spent 8 1/2 years in Colorado Springs stationed at Peterson AFB, and I loved it! I then moved to Illinois to be stationed at Scott AFB, playing with the USAF Band of Mid-America. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
