I teach at two locations shown on the Google Map. One is a studio in the downtown area of Colorado Springs, CO. and the other is my home studio in Chipita Park/Cascade in the Ute Pass area along US 24. I can also service students from the Teller County/Woodland Park area farther up US 24.
I currently teach private students and direct a community orchestra.
I began my musical journey in Shreveport, Louisiana at the age of 10 when I started taking piano lessons. In Middle School, the piano was replaced with the flute which soon became my greatest passion. By the time I was only 14 years old I was already performing for various festivals and private receptions in the Shreveport area. After High School, I continued my musical career with a music scholarship to Centenary College of Lousiana where I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Instrumental Music Education. In college I studied the flute as well as other instruments such as piano, oboe, and percussion. On flute, I continued to perform all over the town as well as in many of the College ensembles such as the Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Chamber Winds, and Orchestra. I was also asked to perform with the Shreveport Symphony and travelled across the border to perform with the National Symphony Orchestra of Mexico. I also became a two-time winner of the annual Centenary College Concerto Competition. I then began teaching private lessons while in College. After College, I went on to teach music in public schools. Before coming to Colorado Springs I was a Middle School Band Director in Houston, Texas for 10 years, where I established myself as one of the most dedicated band directors in the district. I continue to play and perform music on flute as well as piano in a variety of settings. I have been teaching flute privately for 2 years since I have been in Colorado.
I am a music instructor with a wide variety of experiences, knowledge, and pedagogical approaches. Since I began teaching private, I have had students of all ages and ability levels achieve success, including one student who was accepted into the Colorado All-State Band and All-State Orchestra. In addition to private teaching, I currently teach music classes to all ages of students at a home school enrichment program, where I also direct the after-school band program. As a performer, I have performed as a tuba and trombone player throughout Colorado in orchestras, bands, jazz ensembles, brass ensembles, and other assorted groups. I am very excited to continue adding to these experiences by reaching new heights as a performer and as an educator.
I'm a passionate musician who loves music and need it part of my everday life. I graduated from Los Angeles Recording School in 2011 with an Associates degree in Recording Arts. I decided to start teaching what I know to whoever wants to learn.

Melissa is very encouraging, positive, supportive and patient. She knows how to explain the technical details of flute and music notation to kids in a way that makes sense to them. She has been reliable so far turning up on time and calling if there is a need to reschedule. I would definitely recommend her to others.

Our kids love Mr. Lynwood. Mr. Lynwood is very patient and skillful teaching our kids both music theory and guitar/piano. He keeps them engaged and motivated during their lessons and we are seeing -or rather hearing- fast improvement in the kids' dexterity playing their respective instruments. We would recommend this good natured instructor to anybody.

Usually I don't write reviews. I am compelled to write for Feng. I've experience finding/working with many music teachers over the years for different instruments (piano, flute, sax) for kids. I think Feng is the best, he is so passionate about music, he encourages the kids. He teaches thoroughly - you can tell he knows lot about saxophone. I would definitely recommend Feng!!

Rahsaan is an extremely talented player who relates really well with my teenagers. He has them both interested in learning. Given Rahsaan's expertise, it's clear that even though they are beginners now, they can learn from him for a long time to come. He's a real nice laid-back guy and both the boys really enjoy their time with him. I've been very impressed and pleased with the experience.

Laura is a fabulous teacher. She explains concepts to me using concrete examples so that I can understand changes that I need to make to my posture, breathing, phrasing, etc. She makes warm-up exercises fun, and she's got a great sense of humor over all. Her teaching style is collaborative, more egalitarian (she respects what I already know and meets me at my level), tailored to my particular interests and strengths, and I always look forward to our lessons!

Very knowledgeable on every aspect of music theory. I listen to recording artists playing various classical pieces, Dan's playing is much like a recording artist's playing. Always on time. Winning happy personality, a great role model. Puts me at ease when I am playing. Have two friends who hold music degrees, I count him a third, something special about the minds and personalities of good pianists. Thanks Dan.

Travis is the greatest. He knows his music and how to teach it. He gives you time to learn, but will not allow student time to get lazy. I know he teaches all age groups. Young pre-teens to us old folks 78 years young. I have been taking lessons from him since early December 2014. He is a true professional. You can't go wrong with him.

I was skeptical at first not knowing what I was getting my self into.. I am very happy that I forced myself to get into voice lessons because Eli is an awsome voice coach.. Very skillful and he helps you reach the goal you are trying to reach.. He is also very helpful with getting you to open up and come out of your shell and being heard.. I would and I already have recommended friends and family to sign up with Eli if they're serious about singing..

We value Chelsea for the quality of her lessons, but also for the flexibility of her schedule. She has worked around family vacations, impromptu summer camps and the upcoming school year. Emily is better prepared to start middle school band this year due to flute lessons from Chelsea and we plan to continue the lessons for the foreseeable future.
