We are all different. Each student has their own pace of learning. So, I encourage this with setting up realistic goals for each student. Every lesson, I write memos about assignemnts, and student's progress compare to previous lesson/week. Therefore, students and parents will receive "Progress Results" in every four lessons. (or every first week of the month.) Read More

I normally start out with the Faber and Faber Piano Adventures methods books for the piano students. This includes a lesson book and a theory book. The lesson book will teach the student the physical skill of playing piano by presenting them with leveled songs to learn. The theory book will focus more on the mechanics of music and playing and require some written work. These two methods work very well together to give the student a comprehensive experience with the piano. Read More

I have over 7 years of experience teaching all ages and skill levels. I teach based upon the learning style of the student. I want your lessons to be fun and motivating. After all, to learn an instrument takes discipline. If you're not inspired, you can't learn as well. I encourage my students to play in bands and get involved with the local music scene. I am always looking to bring on new students who are excited to learn about this awesome instrument. Read More

I am a beleiver that the solid foundation is the key to musical success. This foundation is broken down into 3 sections (mental, emotional and physical). I focus on the physical, lip strengh, arm and finger positions, and the correct breathing techniques. The mental and emotinal come with time and as the student grows these items will come naturally. The most importat item is to have fun, if your not having fun your intrest will fade. Read More

At the beginng of the first lesson I like to ask my student about their musical experience, interest and if they have any over arching goals, and after that I warm them up and teach them part of a simple song either from a popular musical or (for my younger students) Disney song in order to hear the maturity, tonality, and range they are starting with. If my students do not have a particular song or songs picked out then I assign songs, trying to adhere to the student's interest, during the second lesson. Read More

As I went off to Ohio State for college I considered pursuing a Bachelors degree in Piano Performance, but after being accepted into the program and spending my freshman year in the school of music, I decided that I wanted other things from college and that my musical career would not require such a degree. Nevertheless, that year added much to my life as a musician, and I continued to play over my college years. Read More

I do not have a specific teaching style. Being a teacher is a learning experience for the teacher just as much as it is for the student. Every student learns a different way and can require a unique way of teaching. No one student will get the same teaching method. Overall, I do approach each lesson with patients, the wanting for the student to succeed and making the lesson fun but also productive. Read More
