Since I started working professionally as a drummer at the age of 17, I have had the chance to perform in Europe, America, Africa and Asia, in some of the most prestigious live music venues, festivals and theaters around the globe. I have collaborated on projects with many bands and musicians across all genres from jazz to funk, rock, pop, flamenco, tango, world music and classical music. I love music and I love teaching! I took piano lessons as a child, was in a band as a teenager, and began giving piano lessons in my 20's. I teach all styles of music, sight-reading, music theory and ear training. For those students more more interested in learning pop or jazz, I give special attention to chords and "lead sheet" playing. I like to divide my lessons in two parts: first we address the most formal aspects of the lesson, most of the times using a method book or given hand-outs or whatever relevant material was suggested to the student; the remainder of the lesson is dedicated to work on the students choice of a song or anything less formal suggested by myself. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level.
