I teach my students to read music as well as to play by ear. I host 2 recitals each year. We learn one song start to finish and I hire a professional band to learn and perform the songs with my students at a local establishment or at my studio. I encourage all of my students to perform with our recital band. As far as books, I prefer to use the "new Breed", by Gary Chester, the ''Art of Bop Drumming'', by John Riley , and the ''encyclopedia of reading rhythms'', by Garry Hess, but there are many other books I recommend for specific needs. I am just starting to teach in person but throughout the pandemic I taught beginner theory such as how to count, the notes on the piano, and understanding rhythm. I also taught many of my parents friends kids whatever songs they were interested in on the piano so they found love for the instrument first. I love teaching because seeing the student come to class with something they specifically heard and want to learn is very rewarding. Read More

Over the years, I have performed at many of the top Jazz clubs in America including Smalls, Smoke, and the Kitano in New York City, Chris' Jazz in Philadelphia, An Die Musik and the Hopkins Club in Baltimore, Twins Jazz in Washington, DC, The Bop Stop in Cleveland, and The Elephant Room in Austin. I have been in the entertainment business since I was 7 years old, appearing in the movie "Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush". I did a 4 year degree course at The University Of Hertfordshire in Musical Theater and went on to be a hit songwriter. In the 90's I was signed by Simon Cowell to his record company in London. I began teaching during the last few years of my bachelor's degree, I remember taking a Flute Pedagogy class which provided me the basics as to how to demonstrate concepts to students. I have taught in students' homes and at various music studios in New Brunswick by using the Rubank Method, etude books, and flute repertoire.
