Since graduating from Bethany College in 2010, I taught at a music studio in Wheeling, WV. Unfortunately, the studio closed down. Along with teaching there, I was giving private lessons from home and continue to do so. For beginning students, I typically use a combination of methods. For clarinet teaching, I like to use the Breeze-Easy method and also some materials from the Rubank method books. For intermediate or school-aged students, I like to supplement the material they are learning in school. I like to continue to use Rubank, Klose, and Rose books to continue to develop technique and musicality. I had a student teaching experience where I was able to teach band instruments with students in grades 5-8. After that experience I accepted a job in North Carolina as an orchestra director. As the principal pianist, she has been touring with the Grammy Award- Winning Phoenix Boys Choir in China, Spain, Portugal, France, Luxembourg, Germany, and Austria from 2017 to 2019. For beginning and intermediate clarinet and saxophone students I like using the Yamaha Advantage books or the Belwin Series. I like to use these lesson books and supplement with solo and duet material. I always encourage my students to bring in material they'd like to work on, from school band music to popular tunes they are intereseted in learning.
