I have had the passion of teaching piano since I started building experience through further studying Piano Pedagogy. The courses I was honored to take were extremely valuable for the piano teaching jobs I was able to find for the next decade. My most rewarding experience was when my long-term student of 5 years won first place in her first "Battle of the Bands" for playing Bruno Mars' "Just the Way You Are". Read More

Everyone has a different journey when it comes to learning and loving music. I am passionate about helping a student find their way to loving music while learning basic technique and theory. My main focus is on creating a safe environment for a student to make mistakes and be comfortable learning. Throughout my years as a student, Ive had many different teachers. I hope to be a teacher that is loving and kind while also teaching great techniques and theory. Read More

My teaching experience goes back to my early/mid-teens, when I used to secretly be asked to sub for my drum teacher at the music school I was attending. I had his students, all older than me! We had such a great time and I am very lucky to have had such great teachers myself. All along my professional career, I have always had private students from time to time. Read More

Teaching the most basic concepts in how to build a chord or a scale by using formulas is my favorite way to approach the lesson. An individual's understanding of music is always changing therefore I feel it is better to change with them. Using methods which are proven is important, but the idea of improvisation during a lesson always keeps the interest for me and the student. Of course this depends completely on the age and the experience of a student. Read More

Motivation is a key enabler of the learning process in my classes. I take great care to what motivates my students and make sure we celebrate the accomplishments that push them further. I make sure that students are also enjoying the learning process and are having FUN! I encourage students to try new things and have the experimental mindset that leads to success.I make sure that their passion is preserved and that they are productive and progressing in a smooth way.I take every chance to showcase my students work and achievements. For all students I typically teach from Musicians Institute’s curriculum. This curriculum is tailored in a clear and concise form to progress chronologically from the bottom up. The books I use can help to develop performance, reading, and technique etc at levels beginner through advanced. Most kids I try to teach with additional factors to keep lessons entertaining, and for adults I try to give them as much information as possible while catering to where they are trying to get as a drummer as opposed to the overall knowledge a kid needs. Studying music and a specific instrument is not a straight line. There are multiple lines that cross and support each other's continuation. As mentioned previously, "Theory, Application and Technique" sums it up. We can't focus on everything all at once, so we have to prioritize what makes sense to emphasize now so that it will help us prioritize something else later. We set tangible goals when focusing on technique ("play A major scale in 8th notes at 120 bpm, for example), and can do this with music theory to an extent as well ("write out the notes of the B minor scale").
