As for beginners, I would recommend Hal Leonard’s Essential Elements-Flute, Book 1. For more experienced players, I would recommend De la Sonorité and 24 Progressive Studies for Flute, along with the Trevor Wye Practice Books. More specifically, we would focus on the Tone, Technique, and Breathing and Scales books. As the student moves forward, we can have a more detailed discussion about solo works. I picked up my Aunt's clarinet at 3 years of age -- and never put it back again.  27 years later, I continue to play in many different community bands and orchestras. The only thing I love more than playing music is teaching it. I have taught music in both charter schools and private lessons for the last 10 years and have a patient approach with my students.
