I do not believe sheet music makes a great player. I do believe it is a skill but it absolutely does not hinder the ability to become an amazing guitar player. Example for advanced singers looking to improve belt range, a shortcut is to improve the soprano/mix range and then go backwards twords the belt. No one believes this works until they do it. I opened my clarinet studio while in college. Over the next decade, my studio grew to over 40 students. It was a diverse studio with clarinetists of all levels and ages! I am excited to be teaching privately, and building my studio again, here in Florida! Lessons with me will be a good mix of work and fun. Throughout the process, I also integrate tidbits of music theory and history to give the student a more well-rounded experience.  As for guitar and piano, I normally take a more custom approach to teaching that tends to not revolve around any specific method book.
