I'm a pssionate musician and music teacher. I enjoy sharing my passion with students. I spend much of my time composing and teaching. I graduated from Lewis and Clark College in 2012 with a major in English and a heavy emphasis on music. I have studied African drumming, electronic music, classical music and jazz. I am well versed in hip hop as well. I have stayed tru to my roots and focused on mostly acoustic music, but my range transfers over to electric as well. Read More

I began teaching professionally in the Bay Area about 30 years ago. I have taught in a variety of settings includings classes, group lessons, in music stores, for school districts, at students' homes and in my own private studio. Every person learns differently and I am highly skilled at detecting this and using it to my students' advantage. My recitals not only present individual pieces, but also group works that encourage working together with other musicians which is a highly rewarding benefit of music. Read More

And deepened my empathy for the range of expression and feelings in the interpretations of others. While studying with Mr. Claude Gordon I began giving private lessons to student brass players. Their immediate improvement and success in class, concert, honor ensembles, and as student soloists prompted offers to teach Bands and Drum Bugle Corp. horn lines before my 20th birthday. And expanded rapidly into coaching a broader range of ensembles and and a waiting list for lessons. Read More

I simply want my students to come into their first lesson wanting to learn more about their instrument and music. I want them to leave their final lesson feeling the same way, but at a more advanced level than when they first arrived. They don't need to be professional level when they leave, but I want them to feel as though they learned some valuable things as my student and want to either continue learning elsewhere or feel content about what they have learned and are ready to move on to other things. My teaching experience started many years ago with a few students who were interested in learning jazz and improvisational music. I have taught group classes and one on one now for 25 years. I have much experience working with beginner and young students making their first attempts at playing an instrument as well as players already proficient at the guitar who want to brach out and learn new things. I prefer to teach students who can commit to a regular scheduled weekly lesson as Ive found the consistant work on an instrument is what really produces the most positive results and enjoyment for the student.
