Listening to music is a must for any musician, so I often like to find and listen to a little music during lessons as well. Read More

For beginners I like to have a method books such as Alfreds or Hal Leonards and occasionally supplement with an easy piece to hold their interest. Its important for them to have something to show as soon as possible. As the student advances, the Mickey Baker books are good for the interested jazz student. And getting them to play simple chord progressions and melodies is a good way to get them off and running . Read More
Instruments: Violin Saxophone Music
I start all students with getting a firm grasps of the basics of tone production and air support. I do this through long tone exercises as well as scale work to start learning more notes on the instrument. I focus on slowing incorporating more dynamics, articulation, and time signatures from there. I then start to tailor instruction to goals the student has, whether that be for a school ensemble, a solo performance, or other musical goal such has playing in a gigging band. Read More
Instruments: Saxophone Flute
As stated previously, I just want my students to enjoy playing their instrument. I hope that they will improve and be the best that they can be. I do my best to make private lessons fun as well as productive. I utilize the blue Rubank books for students of all levels. No matter how developed a student may be there is always something of value in these books. Of course, I utilize other method books as well as working on specific works by composers depending on what kind of music the students likes. Read More
