I've been teaching private music lessons since I first started college in 2004. I've taught at community centers, afterschool programs, and music stores since graduating in 2008, and started my own home studio about 2 years ago. I like to teach the rudiments, as the fundamentals of music and of one's instrument provide the solid base upon which all else is built, though I also stress creativity for all my students. I encourage students to draw from many genres of music, and not limit themselves to one style or method of playing. Read More
Instruments: Saxophone Flute Clarinet
For the past decade I have been performing with the U.S. Navy Music Program in places like Australia, Japan, Costa Rica, New Orleans, and Norfolk, Virginia. I've been a featured soloist on clarinet and saxophone with concert bands, jazz bands, rock groups, and brass bands. Before joining the Navy I taught band and woodwind classes for a public school in Northeast Ohio, and I'm excited to begin working with students in Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Washington D.C. Originally being a self-taught musician, I began with piano and harmonica, then eventually branched out to guitar, bass, banjo, among several others. I have ran sound equipment from an early age as well, learning how to set rigs for full bands and how to mix and master tracks for recording purposes. I have met and played with many famous and unfamous musicians, and find that the highest amount of talent is undiscovered and uncultivated. Read More
Instruments: Violin
I think the violin is very special. It’s such a difficult instrument that requires lots of commitment and dedication. I would have never reached my level now if it weren’t for the teachers who were firm and persistent with me. I translate this back to my own teaching methods so I am a firm teacher but at the same time I do my best to make lessons engaging and that my students take pride in their improvements. Read More
Instruments: Bass Guitar
I am the bassist with Baltimore's critically acclaimed funk/soul artist, Bosley. I also perform in the jazz quartet, Otherworld, with Jeffrey Chappell, Jake Marinari, and Jake Kohlhas, and I have appeared with Jon Mathis, Seth Kibel, and Wes Crawford at the Goucher Summer Arts Institute Jazz Camp. I studied electric bass with Golder O'Niell at Shenandoah University, electric bass with Steve Yankee at Goucher College, and double bass under Laura Ruas at Peabody University. Read More
