Instruments: Piano
I'm an ardent instructor and music lover that believes in the saying that music is the soundtrack of our lives. Through my studies, lessons, and performances, I have learned to appreciate the rich diversity found in music. A joy that I love sharing with all of my students. In 2016, I enjoyed participating in an international competition that served to further my experiences as a musician. All in all, I believe the study of music should always be an enjoyable experience no matter what your musical aspirations may be. Read More

I consider myself to be both traditional and old school at certain times, however. I firmly believe that students will lose interest in music quickly if I always teach all students the same techniques and follow conventional music theory. For piano lessons I usually begin without any books until they are comfortable with the weight and the feel of the piano keys. After that I really like to use the John Thompson's piano book grade 1, and I have had many good results with my students in the past. Read More

While achievement is important to me, I believe that developing long-term skills is a far more significant. I prefer to emphasize skill-building and retention, and always want to make sure the student is enjoying the process. I prefer to set realistic short- and long-term goals for students at each lesson, and acknowledge their accomplishments with a system of rewards. Additionally, at the end of each year, I encourage my students' participation in a studio-wide voluntary recital, which is intended to showcase their growth and development over the course of the year as well as afford them an opportunity to perform in public. Instruments: Guitar Classical Guitar
Since I'm primarily a Classical Guitar player, I emphasize the technique required for it, which is mainly finger-style. My primary teaching method is derived from Aaron Shearer, which many famous guitarists have used, including the well known Manuel Barrueco. The main instruction book is written by Aaron Shearer, which teaches classical guitar technique and standard music notation sight reading, but I'm also flexible. If I see a student would prefer to strum and accompany their own or others singing, I teach from Hal Leonard's Complete Guitar Method book. Read More

At the end of the day, music is about making a statement. With that said, I believe that the best results occur when the student is happy with their growth. If a student is having fun, they are more likely to not only practice, but perform with conviction. To achieve this, I do my best to make sure the student develops a musical environment that makes them the most comfortable. Read More

My methods of teaching are primarily based on the individual. Within the first lesson, I make an assessment of the individuals musical abilities, and document the genres of music that interests the student. I then create a curriculum based on that assessment, which includes music theory, building repertoire (including music that interests the student), and music history/literature. I also encourage the student to engage in music competitions/auditions and student recitals. Read More
