Progress will depend on the students' willingness to learn and practice as well as encouragement from their parents. For students who already have an understanding of basic fundamentals, I will assess their skill level and select music appropriate for their progression and level of play.  Every student, regardless of their goals or current ability level, will work on vocal exercises, songs, and sightreading.  The choice of repertoire will depend on each student's technical ability, range, experience with foreign language, and other factors such as personality and acting experience.  If a student has an interest in a particular genre of music, I am always glad to explore his/her personal interests (as long as the style uses healthy, supported singing!).  Read More

for beginning students who are children and just starting out, i typically start with the basic elements of either voice or guitar, depending on which lesson you have chosen. once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire which is age - appropriate of course, in hopes of preparing them for a first recital, perhaps. for adults, i try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. I desire for the student to learn as much about themselves as they do their instrument. I believe that piano and voice are conduits for expression of emotion and thought and are extremely beneficial in helping students find confidence and awareness. My main motto is that EVERYONE can make music and so I encourage all types of people to learn at my studio.
