I'm a young violin instructor who is passionate about teaching music to students of all ages. I graduated from Park University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Violin Performance, and I am currently working on my master's degree. I enjoy performing, and I often perform throughout the Kansas City area, as well as various opportunities around the world. In these lessons we would cover fundamentals, warm-ups, theory, classic literature, etudes, and any fun songs that they wanted! The first step is to build a foundation, a base that all musical ability will be built on. This core will be built of fundamental elements. (This step is fun because you are able to play your instrument.) Once a foundation is created all newly learned material will add on to that base foundation. As a teacher, the biggest reward is hearing how students, who have never cared for music in the past, develop a new love for it after being in my class. My teaching style is to make learning fun for my students. It is also important to me that students set their own goals and take ownership of their learning. My teaching does not only focus on students' violin playing skills, but also their aural skills and musicianship. I strongly believe that ear training benefits a student's overall musical development. My lessons typically involve listening and singing on top of regular violin playing. I also love playing simple duets with my students during lessons, so that they feel comfortable collaborating with other musicians.
