Instruments: Piano
For beginners of all ages, I typically start with the fundamentals of music theory. For children, once they have grasped this, I will introduce solo repertoire and sight reading appropriate for their skill level. For adults, I try to find out what they are interested in and instruct accordingly. I like to keep practice fun and engaging for all ages and ability levels. Read More

My teaching experience began when I was in grad school, where I taught a few students at a local high school. Since moving to the KC area eight years ago, I have been consistently teaching and gradually building my private studio, which now has over 20 students! I love working with young singers (specifically grades 8-12) and helping them find the potential in their voices. I have encountered the full range of ability levels, from very experienced (had lessons before, sung multiple solos in school choir, had lead roles in musicals, etc.) to complete novice (no lessons, no choir experience). My overall approach to lessons is the same, regardless of ability level: consistent improvement from week to week using vocal exercises, songs, and an exploration of breath and the physicality of singing. I am a passionate piano instructor who loves sharing all my love, and study experience to my students and working with them. In 2018 summer, I graduated from Ithaca College with a Master of Arts degree in Piano Performance. I have many experiences of playing recitals and concerts to the public, which has been one of the most valuable lesson in my pianist's life. And I also played the piano part in the orchestra for the concert band in Ithaca College from 2016 to 2017, which gave me more confidence in piano collaborative. Read More

Hello, I'm Mackenzie B.. I'm currently a student at the University of Kansas for a Bachelors in Music Education. I am student teaching currently, which is my last step before receiving my degree. I currently work with Kerry Marsh for the KU Jazz Singers and enjoy singing both classical and jazz music. I also have two or three ukuleles and enjoy jamming with an acoustic guitar. With KU Chamber Choir I was able to go to Greece over the summer and be a part of an international experience. Read More

My teaching experience is unique as my journey started when I was 13 years old. I was the Praise and Worship Leader at my church and was tasked with teaching the younger members of the praise team new songs to sing for the ministry every week. Throughout my years of high school, I was given more opportunities to nurture my gift of educating by leading musical theatre workshops to kids in the community. Read More
Instruments: Voice Music
My methods vary greatly dependent upon the needs of the student. For younger students, I start with early fundamentals (music in general, breathing, and confidence) through easy songs that are recognizable and fun to learn. As a student ages, the voice matures, so I assess a student's vocal qualities and give them appropriate rep through their voice changing. For teens and adults, I focus on finding appropriate pieces that are in line with a student's preferred genre. Read More
