Frequently playing with my siblings in piano trios deepened my appreciation for ensemble music. Even in elementary school my sisters and I would hold family concerts from which the proceeds would be donated to orphanages. Some of these concerts were featured by local television. For younger students I try to focus on simpler concepts and to revisit lessons to help solidfy the material until they feel comfortable progressing. Familiarity with material before it's necessary for application I feel is also a good approach. As my love for teaching grew, I realized how many students there truly were in my hometown who had the talent and thirst for proper education in music, but did not have the resources. This is when I became involved with a program for underserved children which eventually became the Fine Arts Institute in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
