I keep my sessions fun, but focused and professional. My satisfaction as a teacher is seeing my students spread their wings even after my tutelage. The skills that my students worked on together is something that cannot be taken away from them...if they take care, the skills will be there for life, and the knowledge is there forever. I take my student's goals as my own. I'm also a certified life coach, so I'm passionate about everything I do. Read More

I am a graduate of Olaf College, where I received my Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance (‘21). I played in the first violin section of the St. Olaf Orchestra, and have toured with them throughout the United States and abroad to notable venues such as Carnegie Hall and the Oslo Opera House. During my senior year, I served as co-concertmaster of the orchestra. I began private violin lessons at age nine, with notable teachers including Francesca Anderegg, Nathan Cole, Natsuki Kumagui, and Alex DePue. Read More

I believe in a holistic approach to music education, starting with the foundational elements that ensure long-term success. I use the Faber Piano Adventures series, which I myself learned from as a young pianist, to ensure the proper learning of fundamentals. From the beginning, I incorporate music theory and aural skills/ear training to foster a comprehensive understanding of music. Repertoire is carefully assigned according to the student's level, with pieces becoming progressively more advanced at the appropriate times. Read More
Instruments: Saxophone
I believe the cornerstone of any good music education is finding your passion for music and seeking out the best way to pursue it. With younger students, I'll guide them more in their pursuits by introducing them to more standard repertoire within the saxophone standards before branching out into more specific studies as I would for older students. Either way, all students will be taught a firm foundation in basic theory, such as identifying key signatures and a firm understanding of their scales. Read More

As I previously mentioned, I try my best to keep lessons as fun and engaging as possible, because I feel that creative enjoyment is a very important motivator in this field. That being said, I do encourage and appreciate a consistent practice schedule so that my students may advance at an appropriate pace. I also believe that acknowledging when a student has succeeded and lauding them appropriately for their hard work is a very valuable facet in creating intrinsic motivation. Read More
Instruments: Drums
My musical experience dates back to 1997 when I first had the opportunity to start playing the snare drum in my middle school band program. It was a great way for me to feel better about my school day and highlighted the common interests I had with my classmates. A few years later I wanted a drum set and started a band with my school mates to showcase songs like, "wipe out" and "all the small things" ( a pop/punk song from blink 182 in 1999) at the school talent show.
