Once the student progresses to the Intermediate book, I also add Selected Duets Volume 1. I have found that playing duets strengthens listening skills and intonation, plus they are fun! For beginning students, I usually prefer to use the Suzuki method, as this is the method I grew up on, and I prefer to teach the knowledge that I find useful in the method. However, my lessons are not solely based on my preference, as I identify individual strengths and weaknesses and target those in the sessions. Ability level also has a big role in planning the direction of the lesson, as I do not use Suzuki for advanced students. Read More

And my love of singing and teaching led me to pursuing a music education degree that I am about to go into my senior year of at Miami University. During my time at Miami so far I have had hours of field experience getting to teach elementary, middle, and high school music classes. This involved creating and teaching my own lesson plans. This past year I took a vocal pedagogy course and part of this course was taking on college aged voice students to teach and prepare them for a recital and both of my students were successful.
