I am an enthusiastic and compassionate instructor who loves to share my musical knowledge with those eager and willing to learn. I received a Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy from Cleveland State University in 2018 and became a board-certified music therapist in January of 2019. With this degree and profession comes the knowledge and skillset of numerous instruments, including voice (my primary instrument), guitar, piano, and ukulele. I teach Clarinet while incorporating the voice. Singing one's solo or exercise is a method for teaching intonation on the Clarinet. I also use a system of putting certain vowels to the different ranges of the Clarinet (i.e.- one should think "O" when playing in the Clarion register because thinking that vowel will naturally open one's throat). In college my skill increased tremendously and at the same time I was constantly being recommended for teaching positions of other undergraduate students by the music professors. During this entire time, and since I have continued teaching private lessons either on my own, or through schools such as Stone Grove Guitars or American Music Institute in the chicagoland. I also spent years teaching large ensembles so I understand how much a student can improve when they are performing, which is why I always encourage students to join bands, talent shows or recitals. Although I am not a certified Suzuki teacher, I do utilize the Suzuki books for beginning students. I find that they provide a good breadth of repertoire suitable for students who are new to their instruments. For more advanced students, I use standard repertoire for their instrument, making sure each piece teaches them to hone a skill while also preparing them for big auditions.
