My name is Patrick and I did my Bachelors in Music, specifically Clarinet Performance at Baldwin Wallace University. From there I went to pursue my Master's Degree in Music at the University of Akron, graduating Suma Cum Laude. I studied with Daniel Mckelway, Assistant Principal with the Cleveland Orchestra and Dr. Kristina Belisle- Jones, former Principal of the Akron Symphony Orchestra. Whether you are belting out Celine Dion or delicately exploring the passion and beauty of a Schubert Art Song, 99% of the technique remains the same--the fundaments of breath support, posture, vowel shape, formants, laryngeal posture, etc. As an instructor I reinforce those fundamentals very hard from the beginning because establishing a solid technical base is paramount to healthful singing in any style. I grew up in the chicagoland area where my music career started young. I tried many instruments but eventually landed on guitar early in high school which has been my passion ever since. After High School I continued guitar and studied at Elmhurst College near Chicago, while there I performed with many ensembles in a large variety of genres and styles. I have toured internationally and around the country. The last few years I have been performing with Brass From the Past, a 13 piece ensemble performing rock, soul and motown classics from all eras. I began teaching privately as a high school student, working with begnning students at the middle school. I have taught privately in my home and in students' homes since graduating from college. Regular practice is very important and something I emphasize with my students. I like to include a mixture of classical and modern music in my lessons, so that students enjoy what they are learning and playing. If a student does not enjoy their time playing their instrument, they will not want to put the practice in and lessons will become a point of argument.  Read More

I want lessons to be an enjoyable and exciting experience for students who have the desire to learn. Of course I want my students to work hard and push themselves, but I have seen far too many people interested in learning an instrument get overwhelmed and give up before they are ever get off the ground, and this is not something I want to see with my own students.
