As the store specialized in Bluegrass music, I was hired to teach students the pop and rock songs being played at that time. I taught there for three years before relocating to North East Ohio. I have not been teaching lessons for long in my career, but since I grew up in Northeast Ohio and went to school at the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory, I know the region well. I participated in the Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony and the Akron Youth Symphony, so I am familiar with opportunities that are in the area and know how to prepare students for these types of elite ensembles. I am a Classical linguist turned Vocal Performer and choral conductor who believes that active participation in music improves quality of life for all ages. This belief comes from a life-time of musical learning and performance spanning violin lessons at the age of 4 all the way to singing on stage with the Cleveland Orchestra, Akron Symphony, Canton Symphony, and Cincinnati Symphony Orchestras to name a few, as well as a paid vocalist with many fine choral ensembles in the NE Ohio area, including the Summit Choral Society Masterworks Chorale, the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus, Akron Symphony Chorus, and the Cleveland Singers' Club of the Western Reserve Chorale. I have been awarded diplomas in piano performance and accompaniment from Trinity College London and the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, and did my Bachelor of Arts in Music (Piano Performance and Musicology) at the College of Charleston, SC, where I graduated summa cum laude. I went on to complete an artist certificate in Charleston and is now a Masters candidate at the Cleveland Institute of Music. Read More
