My teaching experience dates back to my high school days, as I rose to become section leader of the clarinet section in band and section leader of the alto section in choir. Since then, I have been teaching private lessons to students of all different ages and skill levels, as well as individuals with disabilities. Encouraging practice schedules and routine is something I like to emphasize in younger students. My teaching experience started at the School of Rock and I loved it ever since. I continued to improve on my teaching ability as an English Teacher in China. I lead some group lessons at "Group Expression" in Shanghai; working with non native English speakers. The skills learned as an English teacher have helped immensily with communicating with students on how to better approach their singing. I like to use the IPA chart to break down words in any language which helps immensly when talking to students regardless of native tounge. Read More

I especially love teaching voice. I make goals and adjust to the pace of the student.  While I don't believe I am too strict a teacher, I am always trying to challenge students. Besides keeping them on track with practicing the fundamentals, I encourage students to discover how beautiful and fun music is.    I think my style is more learning music itself. Since I am a singer, piano player and composer, I think I more encourage my students to use their ears and to understand harmony and theory which very is useful for playing music with any instruments. For beginning and intermediate students I like to teach out of the Rubank Method books. They have pieces that focus on one issue or another and are short enough to encourage students to simply become used to the idea of practicing every day. Once the student has some basic fundamentals it is always nice to work on a piece of repertoire. Again certain challeges are adressed and met through this as well, but the goal is also to have a chance to perform it, displaying a practical application to the student's accomplishments and hopefully encouraging the student to become further interested. I started teaching private lessons back in the day when I was living in my country, the Dominican Republic. I had students of different ages and with different interests. Also, before I moved to the United States, I taught for almost a year in a private music school in my country. In that school, I had the opportunity to teach Drums to very young kids, and for me it was a great and fun experience to teach those kids back in those days. Read More
