Hi, my name is Leon, and I am a Countertenor from Newark, DE. I have been a student of music for over 13 years. My musical influences include Disney, Church music, Choir, Opera, and Musicals, and I also enjoy Karaoke now and then. I am a student at the University of Delaware working on my Master of Music in Choral Conducting. I love making music of all kinds, and I especially love highlighting the voices of those underrepresented individuals in our field. Read More

Hello! I'm Clay and I love to teach Bass Guitar! In 2006, I graduated from Elizabethtown College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education. I've played and toured many venues throughout the U.S. and have a great deal of studio experience as well. I've been able to meet and play with many great artists throughout my career and hope to continue to connect with many more! Read More

I've been a private lesson teacher since 1997 and have taught in 7 school districts across the Southeastern PA/Southern NJ area since 1999. My ensembles have consistently won State, Regional and National Championships over this time and my students have become members of elite performing ensembles like the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps (Fort Mill, South Carolina) and Miami, Florida's New World Symphony. While school level instruction is a critical element of student development, private lessons offer the individual attention not available to students taught in large groups, while yielding results of greater quality at a faster pace. I have a routine that I use for the lesson time--breath exercises followed by the vocal warm up and then working on a piece. During that process I always encourage an open dialogue between myself and every student. I want to student to feel as comfortable as possible and always have the option to ask questions and take part in their development as a singer. My goal is to provide a nurturing and inspirational environment for every singer, despite that individual's level of singing or experience. Read More

My methods are in service of the cultivation of interest. Mainly I want the student to focus on learning how to play the music they want to play. The key to cultivating interest is to nurture the social, communicative and fun elements of playing music; associating the laughter and exhilaration with learning. I'm a self taught musician - I know that music is intuitive enough to learn without getting overly text-book about it, and I think focusing too much on the book at an early age can turn away potential musicians. I also developed my own innovative musical English program in which to teach young children English. I returned to the states ten years ago and have been teaching voices lessons and directing my church choir. I am presently the lead vocalist performing with the band Waterfront Blue. We play at local venues and events in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. I also perform, record and collaborate with 8 time Grammy nominee and master guitarist, Dr. Read More

For beginning students, I start with Essential Elements, or another comparable method if their band program uses another book. Once the student reaches middle school and has a good concept of fundamentals, we progress to the Himie Voxman Selected Studies and Duets books. For high school and advanced middle school students, I use the Baermann Division III book, the Klose Method, the Rose etudes for clarinet, as well as beginning to introduce appropriate solo repertoire.
