This will range within the genres of jazz or classical performance, which also will include listening to and discussing what makes a performance excellent. I have specific background in flute sound and tone production have been the student of the renown flutist and teacher, Frances Blaisdell. In 1998, I began teaching saxophone lessons in Houston, TX. I have taught saxophone lessons in the Dallas-Fort Worth area since 2008. My students were in middle school, high school, college. and adults. In addition, I have taught students who wanted to start a new hobby or were interested in returning to an instrument that they played in the past. In 2011, I began studying with Joe Eckert at TCU. At TCU, I coached the saxophone quartets, lead rehearsals for the jazz ensemble saxophone section, performed classical saxophone recitals, and performed with the jazz ensemble. Read More

My teaching experience began in high school when my band director gave me the opportunity to teach lessons to some students at the middle school. When I went to college, this passion for teaching lessons grew as I was fortunate enough to have a small studio through the help of my college professor. As a teacher, I encourage regular practice on a consistent schedule for my younger students, encouraging them that individual practice is their time to learn more about their own instrument and gain a passion for music through performance. My teaching style is totally based on the energy and personality of the student. With younger students I try to be as patient as possible by allowing them to tell me exactly what they are looking to learn in the lessons. I then base my lesson plan on this interaction and build the relationship from there. With the trumpet it is extremely important to avoid developing bad habits and to implement proper technique in order for appropriate muscle memory to set in. At any level it is important to ensure that proper technique is understood and implemented. These techniques take a personal touch from a seasoned professional to assess and explain. To further develop a solid foundation of sound fundamentals I work incrementally out of the Arban's Clark technique books. (As well as others) These books cover all aspects of a fundamentally sound trumpet player in an enjoyable way with progressively more challenging exercises. Read More

My teaching has enabled me to work with young musicians of all ages and skill types. The approach I take is technique driven, while at the same time, expressive, musically sensitive, and fun! Voice students will learn English and foreign language diction, ear training and sight-singing, proper posture, stage presence, confidence, and healthy vocal production suitable for all styles of singing. Drum students will learn the importance of snare drum rudiments, how to read drum charts, the nuances of various styles, as well as, develop dexterity and increase muscular function and independence.
