I began teaching while I was pursuing my undergraduate degree at Malone University, where I earned a degree in Commercial Music Technology, but also studied piano pedagogy. I taught students through the Piano Preparatory department at Malone for two years. After graduating and moving to New York, I began to teach privately. Piano For beginning piano students who are children, I usually start with my own lesson sheets I composed. I also entertain kids by having them color and draw notes and scales. After being familiar with fundamentals, depending on students progress, I recommend them to study with Hal Leonard's or Alfred's. From (Mid) highschoolers to adults, I will start off with Ferdinand Beyer first then Czerny with a couple other supplementary.  Voice For children, I keep them interested with children's song and have them play along singing. I have been teaching guitar as a primary occupation since 2006. I have been a professional musician (performer and songwriter) since 2001. I have taught at music studios in NJ (Dan's Music Studio, The Music Center in Chatham, Howell Music) and now teach privately in-home, at my studio, and online. My journey in music took a couple of unexpected turns. As a youth, it was my intention to get a degree in trumpet performance, but life held a different path for me and I put the instruments away. Some years later, my wife- knowing how much I continued to enjoy music- suggested I take up trumpet again and I did, for which I'll be eternally grateful! As a teacher I try to inspire my students. Whether its playing a song for them to motivate them, breaking things down to the most simple element, I approach teaching in a pragmatic way.
