With all my students, I will always take interest in what they want to learn. I want to make their experience as fun as mine was when I first began. So knowing my students' musical inclinations is important to my methods, because it gives me a direction in which to apply my instruction. My younger students will start with the basic rhythm rudiments and reading notated percussion music. I am also willing to assist them in any repertoire that students are given in their school's music program. Older or more advanced students will still review the fundamentals, but also get more heavily in-depth with different feels and styles of music.

I encourage students to pick the music they want to play.  For those who have no prior music knowledge at all, there are numerous beginning methods that are satisfactory.  I teach harmony and ear training at a level in agreement with ability of the fingers to execute.   It is so nice to learn to play by ear, (starting with very simple tunes) going from the brain to the keyboard without the crutch of the paper score.  Of course this is the objective of preparation (study, practice) anyway, so the emotional feeling that the composer intended can be experienced and interpreted (and communicated to the audience) in a wonderful, magical way.

Hailing from Philadelphia area, I grew up in a family of professional musicians. My diverse musical life has brought me to a number of stages: solo recitals, jazz big band, and electro-rock to name a few. While I love playing, I bring just as much passion to teaching, and love helping people of all ages achieve their goals and to help them find their way. Learning music is as much about the journey as the end goal, and I try to make that journey as fun and worthwhile as possible. I received my Masters in Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in Guitar Performance.

I'm a passionate teacher and performer who is motivated to work with students and get them where they want to go with their playing. I went to school in Philadelphia where I studied with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra and I have graduated from Temple University with a MM in Music Performance. I perform regularly with orchestras around the area and I record music for NFL Films. I have had the opportunity to tour China as well as perform with orchestras in Italy and Austria. My goal is to always keep students engaged and enthusiastic with their playing and to make it challenging and fun at the same time.

For beginner piano students who are children, I use some combination of either the Alfred, Faber or Bastien method books to get them started, but we also play lots of games to help us build on our rhythm and reading skills. I believe that music lessons should be fun and enjoyable for everyone, but that being said I do expect students to practice. It will be much more enjoyable to learn and less difficult for the student if they put the work into learning their music. For adult students of piano, I use the older beginner method books and I can make my own arrangements for them of popular music that is easy to play. For voice students, I am happy to teach all ages and styles of music from Pop to Classical. I focus on keeping the voice healthy and using diaphragmatic breathing technique. I believe that this classical technique of singing is applicable to all styles of music and will help anyone to become a better singer. For singers that want to learn the Classical style we will work on songs in other languages, starting with the Italian art songs of the 17th and 18th centuries. We will focus on legato and connected singing and pure open vowels. I have an extensive background in languages and diction and I am comfortable teaching songs in French, Italian and German.
