I'm a Performer, Composer and Music Instructor based in NYC. In 2016 I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music with a BM in Performance, and in May 2018 I graduated Magna Cum Laude with an MM in Jazz Performance. I have performed all over the world in places such as Boston, NYC, Washington DC, Denver, Puerto Rico, Spain, Italy and Ecuador. I constantly show images of the vocal instrument, Its really important for the student to understand their mechanism, and when teaching young people I share the same information but using a more digestible vocabular. My mother influenced my life as a musician. In 1969 she encouraged me to audition for the Newark Boys Chorus. I auditioned. I was accepted and sang in choir-school for three years, singing music from Renaissance to R&B. In 1980 I received a BM and MMT from Oberlin Conservatory. At Oberlin I met three great teachers who encouraged me to sing professionally. I pursued the career! I love spending time with people and learning what makes each unique individual tick. My studies have brought me from Bostons New England Conservatory to Europe to Los Angeles to New Yorks own Juilliard School. For example, if a student is trying to play a melody they know, I won't simply write it out for them and have them recite it: I'll push them to figure it out themselves and develop their ear. Daniel is a versatile musician, composer, and educator. He began playing saxophone at age 11, and has since expanded his repertoire to include multiple woodwind instruments. Originally from midcoast Maine, Daniel has been based primarily out of New York since 2008 when he began his studies at Purchase College. Daniel looks forward to remaining an active teacher in the tri-state area, and a return to Purchase College, this time as a graduate student and he has also recently moved full-time to New York City!
