I feel that it's very important to see what skill level each student is at in order to meet their needs. I want my students to be challenged during lessons but still have fun playing their instrument. We would work on grasping the fundamentals, such as scales, embouchure, etc. but I will make sure to include things that each student would find challenging, engaging, and fun no matter what their skill level or ability is. I began teaching music in 2013. At the time, I was working with a local music school, teaching Music Theory and Music History to kids aged 5-18. Three years later, in 2016, I opened my own private piano studio. The studio, in my hometown of Milan, remained open until 2019 when moved to Philadelphia, PA. Since then, I have been teaching and tutoring music students at every level; from grade school to college. Read More

For beginning children, I typically like to use the Alfred series of beginner books depending on the instrument. I also like the students to rely on their ears just as equally, so the other half of the lesson is usually dedicated to learning music without relying on reading music. Of course, this is all dependent on the student's needs or prior experience. More importantly, I want to teach the student what they are truly interested in with music, and I have plenty of material to discuss if they are unsure of this interest. Read More

I plan every lesson differently based on the student. I first like to see what the students interests are as well as what goals they have in mind that they would like to achieve. For drummers and percussionists, I like to work out of the books, Stick Control and the Alfred method books because I believe that they develop the best technique. For mallet players, I like to work out of the Charlie Parker Omnibook as well as Bach's Partitas and Sonatas book. Read More

Throughout my education in music, I realized just how much power for good a teacher or professor has in presenting their classes in ways that are enjoyable and accessible, while still inspiring the students to learn. In college, I realized how unique and different each student was, and how one student's goals in learning greatly differed from another's. All of the most memorable instructors I ever had always went the extra mile, and went above and beyond what I the student asked of them. Read More
