I'm a passionate instructor who loves to share my love of music and discover all the possibilities that a student can have with the instrument. I graduated from the Puerto Rico Music Conservatory with a bachelor in trombone performance. Working as a trombonist with the Navy band Southeast, I'm constantly performing in different ceremonies and teaching masterclasses around the Southeast area of the US, including Puerto Rico. As a soloist and freelance musician I'm very active in the Jacksonville scene, not only playing classical music, but also latin music and popular music; with Symphony Orchestras and other small and large ensembles. While in grade school, I also took a liking to local music scenes and other musical endeavors outside of the academic environment and began to glean from those influences as well. Upon graduating high school, I was accepted into the University of North Florida to play euphonium. My freshman year I performed with UNF's top Wind Ensemble at Carnegie Hall. My focus shifted to playing piano primarily and I spent the remainder of my tenure there in UNF's reputable jazz program in their top combos and big bands, working with world-renowned clinicians and staff. I will typically alter my lesson plans according to each student's needs and goals. I love using method books and even beginning band books. For true beginners, it is so important to develop a strong foundation for breathing, posture, embouchure, and finger position. For example, to help practice deep breathing, I have my students lay down on the ground with a book on their stomach. Then, I will ask them to breath while trying to move the book up and down. All of my students can expect to participate in the hundred-day practice method, which requires practice each and everyday (even if it is just scales or review). Once they hit one hundred days, they will earn a reward within the studio. Each student will be given their own specific "Violin Diet Plan" where they will be required to practice scales, learn musical terminology, develop right and left hand technique, study etudes, and learn solo repertoire (sonatas, concertos, show pieces, etc.).
