Instruments: Piano Voice
I started teaching voice in college and have taught piano in high school. For each I have about a little over year of experience. I want my students to use their musical skills as much as possible to give them motivation to practice and satisfaction in their newfound abilities. I feel that each piece and performance is an opportunity to branch out and try new things. Teaching is, for me, an opportunity to create positive change in others. Read More
Instruments: Piano Guitar Voice Violin Cello
I try to strike a balance between music lessons being serious and being fun. I expect my students to practice almost every day and I expect that the parents will be part of keeping them accountable for scheduling that practicing. Lessons are a combination of learning technical skills and learning songs, which usually are mostly classical songs with a few contemporary songs thrown in for motivation. Read More
Instruments: Voice
For me, voice teaching is all about the individual. Unlike a violin, trumpet, piano, or other instrument of a fixed size and shape, voices come in all shapes and sizes. Each students physiology and psychology is different and responds better to different stimuli/approaches. In singing, our bodies are our instruments! Therefore, there is no one size fits all approach to teaching voice. It thrills me to get to know a student and work with them in a cooperative and encouraging way to achieve his or her goals. Instruments: Trombone Euphonium Tuba
I do not have a beginning method book that I prefer, so I typically use a student's band method book for early lessons. For advanced students I prefer the Bordogni/Rochut etude book and the Blazhevich clef studies, along with a solo. I use scales with students of any level, and expect for students to eventually have all the major and minor scales memorized. Read More
Instruments: Piano Flute Piccolo
I have been playing the flute for over 25 years and have been in teaching/a therapist for at least 18 years. I currently work in a charter school with students ranging in age from K-5th grade, many with multiple disabilities. I have worked, in the past with students that were younger and those that are more advanced in age. I approach each lesson with the indiviuals focus in mind. Read More
Instruments: Guitar
Whether you just want to play for your own enjoyment or you want to eventually play professionally, I can help. My teaching style is designed around the needs of each student. My goal is to encourage and inspire my students at every lesson and to encourage them to believe in themselves. I try to listen carefully to my students so that I can understand and help them reach their goals. Read More
