Music for me has been the one constant in my long trip called life. Since the age of 10 I have played trumpet, then baritone horn. I took my brother's flute and began learning flute solos off of the radio. Shortly after starting flute, I met a small group of players (music theory class in high school) who helped to "transform" my scope of music to heights I never would have dreamed before (I still play with some of them). I gained my teaching experience over the last 3 years in a variety of settings. For the 2011-2012 school year I was a Music Project Coordinator at a high school in Montreal, where I gave private lessons (drums, guitar, piano), coached bands, assisted students and ran rehearsals in ensemble classes, and co-organized the school's winter and fall concerts. Since moving to Detroit in 2012 I have been teaching private lessons to students of all ages in studios and in students' homes, and as a substitute teacher have led ensemble rehearsals at all grade levels. After high school, I embarked on a collegiate musical journey, which led me to stays at Columbia College in Chicago, Bowling Green State University (where I received a full tuition scholarship) and Wayne State University. As an accomplished self taught pianist and composer I've spent my life experimenting with different methods, material and practice beliefs. I can teach and speak more broadly now about music, not as an elitist activity but as a language vital to humans whether it is "spoken" or heard. I encourage exploration, a firm understanding of fundamentals and full pursuit of whatever goals are set by the student.
