For beginning children students I typically start with Hal Leonard or a similar reputable music book.  Once the students has a grasp of the fundamentals we will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate to their age and skill level.  For adult students, I find out what the student is interested in and create a lesson plan that is fun and challenging no matter their skill level. Weekly lessons keep students active and involved in their drumming education, while assigned practice exercises promote gradual but steady improvement. Assigned practice exercises are designed to improve rudiment execution, hand and foot technique, and musical sensibility.
