I have used all of the store brand version of piano books, and find a preference in the ones I was taught in from the 70's which are too many to mention; but depending on the student, I will find a book that is age appropriate and go on from there. I also do different ear training activities using apps on my phone. I start with nursery rhyme type music for children because that is what is ingrained in their mental ear. Read More

For beginner students, I often begin with the foundations of the instrument. For drums, we would be practice the rhythmic subdivisions (quarter, eighth, sixteenth notes) and slowly work them into grooves that they can easily start to pick out of their favorite songs. When the fundamentals have been established, we can learn more advanced grooves, dissect songs together, and learn how to improvise and write our own drum parts. My biggest focus as a teacher is to help the student discover the music that they want to learn and make so that they can develop their own unique voice. Read More

: Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

I have always loved teaching, and have taught students of all ages and levels over the course of the past six years. I believe that the most important aspect of learning music is inspiration; music should always be enjoyable, first and foremost. I teach a combination of popular and classical repertoire, to ensure that the student has a balance between growing their appreciation for classical music and playing things purely for fun. Read More
Instruments: Piano
In Russia, I was a concert pianist as well as a teacher of classic piano theory and performance. I was a soloist who performed with a full orchestra as well as being a chamber musician, accompanist for singers and for strings. Since I came to the United States, I have concentrated more on teaching. I have taught piano at many music schools and have also given private lessons, both at students' homes and at my music studio. My piano students have won multiple awards at music competitions in Russia and the United States. In 2006, a student of mine won first prize at the West Chester University Music Competition. Then in 2011, my students won prizes in the International Music Competition, the National League Competition and the Tri-County Competition. Read More
