I also have served as a substitute oboe instructor with the University of Richmond. My students have gotten seats in the All State Band and do well in their school bands because I have a lot of experience with auditioning and I always encourage students to at least try! Playing music is very rewarding and I try to find a style that appeals to my students so they can connect to what they are doing and feel excited about taking on challenges. Read More

For begining student I typically start with a book called Essential Elements. I supplement some of the things in the book with other literature and hand written exercise to help enhance learning experience. For Adults I try to find what genre and music style they would like to work on. This then allows me to plan a custom learning experience that best suits them and what they're looking to gain from the experience. Read More

On strings I teach a modified Suzuki method, supplementing pieces of a student-requested style at technical benchmarks. Again, connection to music is critical and one of the ways to gain that is through personal involvement in lesson directions. For children, I teach piano from the Bastien method, whereas adults go with Alfred's All-In-One Course. Voice students will gain foundation through classical training and branch into other styles as they are ready. Read More

My experiences as a teacher have been vital to my growth as a musician and a person for the past few years. Upon my start of graduate school, I began teaching in the place of a local New Jersey trumpeter who was busy out of the country. Each student had their own unique personality and skills, ranging in age from 9 to 17. This opportunity also allowed me to work with special needs students. Read More

Originally from central New Jersey, I attended and recently graduated Elizabethtown College, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Music. While at college, I studied piano with Debra Ronning, piano teaching/pedagogy with Cheryl Braun, and organ with Anthony Ciucci. I also gave two solo recitals, where I got the chance to perform an original composition, and was a member of various ensembles, performing not only piano, but also on clarinet, percussion, and singing. Weekly Practice and Reinforcement: Consistent practice is key to musical development. I provide weekly instruction and assignments designed to reinforce concepts covered during lessons and encourage regular engagement with the instrument. This structured approach fosters discipline and helps students develop a strong foundation in drumming. Building Confidence Through Achievement: I believe in setting achievable goals and celebrating successes, no matter how small. Each lesson is designed to build upon the previous one, allowing students to experience a sense of accomplishment and grow in confidence with every step forward. Read More
