I am primarily a percussionist, with over 10 years of expierience playing and performing in jazz bands, marching bands, musical theatre, small ensembles, wind ensembles, and symphonies, and I was the principle percussionist for 2 years while I was in college. I also have 5 years of expierience on the trumpet, 15 years of guitar, as well as expierience with many other instruments. For beginning students, we work out of beginning method books such as Essential Elements or Standard of Excellence. This is supplemented with worksheets and personalized exercises specific to their needs. As the student advances, we will begin to introduce duets to begin to understand and play harmonized music. Once the student is able to play within a certain range, I will begin to use solo material as well as music that the student themselves would like to play. Read More

I am an avid performer of classical and contemporary music and a teacher based in Portland, OR. As a doctoral candidate at the University of Washington, I won the 2015 Concerto Competition and was a member of the scholarship chamber music ensemble for 3 years. I currently am the cello instructor at George Fox University in Newberg, OR and keep a private studio in West Linn, OR and in NE Portland. I have been teaching privately for the past 8 years. I began teaching private lessons shortly after enrolling at LSU teaching through the university's performing arts academy. After graduating, I began teaching group percussion lessons with the non-profit organization Kids' Orchestra and also teaching general music at Victory Christian Academy. During my time with Kids' Orchestra I was able to encourage a passion for music in young students from the inner-city who would not have been able to afford music lessons. Read More
