My sessions are designed to be both structured and intuitive. While I draw on classical training and vocal technique, I also prioritize the individual experience of each student—meeting them where they are and guiding them toward where they want to be. Whether the goal is to sing with more freedom, speak with confidence, or deepen artistic expression, each lesson is tailored to support lasting growth. I have witnessed firsthand the powerful shifts that occur when someone connects fully with their voice. Read More

My only reward is seeing one of my students getting better, and developing a passion for music! I will work with each student at their own pace to ensure that they are able to reach realistic goals. I will encourage students to be problem solvers by LISTENING to my instruction, APPLYING what they have heard, and then LEARNING from what they've applied. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and I will do my best to figure out what inspires the student so that i can access my instructions successfully to their needs. I have a patient, focused, goal-oriented teaching style derived from pedagogical practices and my own personal experiences as a musician. Studying with me will help you cultivate technique that is fine and precise, develop a deeper appreciation for music, and most importantly, help you perfect the art of practicing smart. I am particularly inspired by the positive reinforcement methods employed by Suzuki, which successfully encourage and motivate any student. We will be going through a fairly even distribution of scales, etudes, and repertoire that I will carefully select based on your current abilities. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 8 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 5 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the instrument and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More

Yet I am still a professional musician. What I am saying is that you can be successful in learning to be a musician if you have attention issues. As a middle-aged adult I have (just a few years ago) been diagnosed with ADHD, which explains my entire life of practicing music! I am not a psychologist, but I know how it feels and I have studied enough teaching and psychology to understand that things like this are not a permanent barrier to being a musician, even a great musician. Instruments: Piano Voice
For beginning piano students I typically use the Alfred Method. Once the student demonstrates a grasp of the fundamentals I introduce solo repertoire. For adults I typically use the John Thompson Adult Piano Course and we work together to find the solo repertoire. For voice lessons, I typically teach the bel canto style. I will work with vocalises that help develop breath control, placement and open vowels. I also use the Music Theory for Singers program to teach Music Theory and also use solfeggi to build sight singing skills. Read More
