To be honest, I didn't become serious about teaching in the arts until I went to graduate school from 2019 - 2022. There, I co-taught a class in the winter 2022 to undergraduates and realized I enjoyed teaching a variety of artists and helping them to feel more open in sharing their art and artistic practices. I have been playing professionally since 2018, with performances all over LA ranging from jazz combos to salsa bands. I also have notable performances such as opening for The Marias (2018), and recording trombone for BTS on their hit song, "ON" (2019). I also am a strong composer that focuses on as many genres as I play. I believe all musicians should be well rounded and be aware of the business and how to actually pursue this as a career. In May 2017 I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor of Music degree in Professional Music (Drum Set Performance Music Production). I have experience teaching in many facets. I began working with kids as a full-time nanny and then went into teaching in a Kindergarten classroom, and proceeded to teaching music for all ages. I am very intuitive and experienced with seeing where a student is at, meeting their needs as a teacher and student individually first, and then growing them into a musician from there. I strive to find out what my students are really trying to get out of drums whether it’s just for fun, to be famous, or in order to start a band. I love to cater my curriculum to students favorite genres in order to keep them interested. Every student learns differently and is inspired differently. I believe it is important to have a solid knowledge of theory and note reading- If the student has this foundation then they are able to grow quite quickly as musicians. I think that consistency is the key to learning an instrument and trying to practice every day is ideal, but I have children of my own and I realize that this is not always possible. Read More
