Hello future students! I much enjoy sharing my experience as a creative musician to my students whether they are 5 or 55, beginner or advanced. I am a patient teacher and do my best to encourage each student to find themselves as unique learners (musicians) unto themselves. I graduated from Columbia College Chicago in 2002 with a BA focus on Music Composition. While recently living in NYC, I formed a 12-member saxophone orchestra, composed and recorded two symphonies, performed and recorded with the late Glenn Branca's 100 Guitar Ensemble, and provided live Sound Design for renowned poetess Anne Carson. I encourage my students to conduct research outside of their lessons, in order for them to learn as much as possible about the history of their instrument, as well as the genre and style in which they are performing. I aid them with this research by providing introductory resources, eventually leading them towards general music databases. I also encourage students to listen to recordings of many different styles and genres in order to hear elements that cannot always be explained with words. Read More

I discovered my musical interests and performance abilities through private piano lessons, dance classes, private voice lessons, and musical theatre acting workshops. I began my teaching experience as an assistant instructor/choreographer for the StarBright! Youth Musical Theatre classes at a local community theatre. During my undergraduate studies, I was an opera acting coach at Baldwin Wallace under Opera Director, Benjamin Wayne Smith.
