I have been teaching students of all ages since high school. While studying at Eastman, I have been responsible for teaching lessons to college-aged students of varying levels and abilities. I have also taught young beginners and older students returning to music. I have found that my wide ranging and diverse knowledge of the piano repertoire helps to engage students and encourages a personal relationship with music. My experiences have taught me the importance of having an adaptable teaching style that changes to help students reach their full potential: It is never enough to simply be a good pianist. Read More

At my current day job, I am a music teacher at an art-centered music program for adults with varying levels of physical and developmental disabilities. We work on elements of music history, theory, and performance which culminate in a thematic bi-monthly performance. I focus on the needs of each person while still maintaining a fun and engaging group class atmosphere through repetition and a consistent schedule. I also teach private lessons and have taught people from all different age groups and abilities. Read More

The methods I work in are very particular for the specific student. I work to cater my teaching to the student rather than the other way around. It really is important to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the individual student to be able to determine what is the best course of action. For early beginners I work with the Simandl book, as well as exercises and etudes that are common such as Sturm, and Petracchi. Read More

I am originally from Warrenville, IL where I discovered my love of violin while studying with Dr. Lee Joiner at Wheaton College. I graduated from the Eastman School of Music in 2022 in the studio of Professor Oleh Krysa, and am continuing with my Master's degree in Performance and Literature with Professor Yoojin Jang. My mother is a piano teacher so I grew up around in a very musical household where I got to experience a community of students and teachers. Read More

I teach with a casual, approachable, student-based technique which brings about progress at the student's individual pace. I enjoy connecting with students' creativity as their skills grow and watching their ability to express themselves musically. Music is an art, and expression through music is an amazing personal experience. I receive great rewards in being a part of the journey as students discover a deeper sense of who they are and what they can communicate through this unique and amazing form of expression. Read More

I graduated with a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Jazz Studies: Drum Set from the Eastman School of Music, studying music theory (aural and written), music history, and composition in addition to drum set and Jazz vibraphone. During my master's degree, I taught two courses taken by Eastman and University of Rochester students (drum set lessons, and also a basic drum set class). I have worked at American Music Centre (a music store/ school in Rochester) as a drum set and percussion instructor, and have multiple years experience teaching students from ages 3 to adult. I have been a teacher almost as long as I can remember. As one of the more advanced students in class I was often utilized to help other students, even in elementary school. By the time I reached high school, I was sitting in the concertmaster seat (even though I was a violist) and I regularly led sectionals and conducted the orchestra when needed. At that point I also had a small private studio. Read More
