Instruments: Voice
I’m a singing teacher who is passionate about helping my students find their voice and tell their own personal stories in the songs we work on. Some become professional singers/songwriters if that is their goal. Some are accepted into college music programs. After two years as a Musical Theater major at Tisch School of the Arts, I graduated from New York University’s Gallatin Independent Study program, merging my wider interests in Classic Texts, Science, and Writing while continuing to study singing privately in NYC. Also, because of theory lessons, they are also encouraged to read music on their own and learn songs independently. My lessons are designed from day 1 to include Music Theory because I believe that theory of a subject is very important in comprehension of reading a musical piece and recognizing all the signs, symbols, terms etc in the music while learning to read and play it on the instrument. I provide the Theory worksheets or a theory workbook is purchased and used by the student based on level of study. 30 mins of the lesson is spent on teaching, learning and attempting exercises on worksheets. For beginning students, I typically start with the Suzuki Method while combining it with the Essential Elements Method. As the student learns the fundamentals I gradually add scales and exercises to further develop the student's technique. After further progress, I begin to introduce solo repertoire and add other pieces. I'm fairly flexible on what pieces the student may play in the lessons, as long as the rudiments and classic repertoire are covered. Read More

I have enjoyed teaching music since I was in High School. I I enjoy using my experience as a multi-instrumentalist to teach students about the joy of playing with others. Social dynamics in music are important and once a student can learn the basics, I really enjoy encouraging them to find others to play with and learn to experience the music they enjoy on their own. Of course theory and regular practice are both very important. Read More
