I have been working out of my record studio since 2013 but I have been recording since 2004. I have also served as the assistant band director at midfield high. The instrument I'm teaching will determine the methods of teaching I use, for example, if I'm teaching saxophone I use Hal Leonards essential elements to teach the fundamentals and after that depending on what style of music or type of player the student wants to be will determine what I teach them. My passion for teaching stringed instruments has brought me to work with students from the ages of 6 to 23 during my college career. My teaching experience dates back to my High School years, as I began teaching private lessons part time 10 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students throughout my life for the last 10 years. I encourage regular practice on a consistent schedule, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that getting my beginner students learning the songs they want to learn can go a long way in helping students enjoy the guitar and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. I began teaching bass lessons when I was in high school. I taught bass for 11 years as an adjunct instructor at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. I also worked as a clinician at the UAB Jazz Summit. Many of my students have gone on to play professionally and a few have gone on to become music teachers themselves. The most important aspect to teaching in my opinion is to make sure that the students remain engaged and excited enough to spend the time that will make them successful. Read More
