An unforgettable highlight was sharing the stage with Cous at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheater in October 2022. Collaboration has been a cornerstone of my musical adventure, featuring esteemed artists like Cous, Grace De Vine, Lauren Hifrauf, Dandu, Diego Frenkel, Venus Cruz, Willie Green, Greg Tanner Harris, and Verena Fuentes. In a remarkably short period since its inception in 2020, my current project, "People in Between," has graced esteemed platforms like The Denver Post Underground Music Showcase, the Larimer Block Party (now Project PBR), and had the honor of opening for Grammy-nominated artist Emily Hale. It is very important for me that students not only take away something from each lesson, but also enjoy coming to lessons. I try to always acknowledge students' improvements and be encouraging. I understanding sometimes lessons can be stressful or not so interesting, so I try different ways to teach and guide my students so the process of learning is enjoyable. I want to keep students interested and inspired, I encourage them to play for themselves and their loved ones, and find pieces they like to bring to lessons. Read More

For the majority of students, I have several books that I use to zero in on what level of proficiency they currently hold and then I begin to adapt from there. For beginning or younger students, I use several books that focus of basic techniques that are effective for any style of music; I use books such as Collin Bailey's Bass Drum Techniques and Mitchell Peters and Stick Control for snare drum and genral techniques. For beginning students, I typically start with some exercises for the left hand and right hand, easy arpegios, scales, melodies and chords. Once the student progresses to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For advanced students, I start with intermediate and advanced studies and pieces like 12 Studies of Fernando Sor, studies of Leo Brower, 12 studies of Villa Lobos or some famous spanish reprertoire for guitar such as Rodrigo, Turina, and Torroba. My methods are specific to a student's goals. For beginners, I usually like to use Hal Leonard's Guitar Method series to get them reading music and playing guitar in the first (or open) position. Beginners need to learn fundamental music theory, such as the major scale and how to build chords. Intermediate students that already understand basic theory usually desire to learn the techniques and vocabulary specific to a certain genre. Read More

I love to see my students progress throughout our lessons and encourage them to learn at a pace that is suitable for them. I do so by giving them assignments that I know they can tackle during the week. I acknowledge their progress with positive reinforcement as such feedback is important to a student's sense of achievement. This positive reinforcement feeds into the student's desire to keep learning and makes it more enjoyable for both them and I. Read More
